Calling in Sick

Do you have that one employee in your office that is a complete pain?

You know who I am talking about ….

The one that thinks that everyone likes them, but in actuality nobody does …..

The one that everyone talks about behind their back (and not in a good way) ….

Yeah, that person.

We have that person at our office (as I am sure that everyone does).  But this case is so extreme, yet so sad because they have no idea that nobody likes them!

It’s relatively funny to hear the stories about this person that get spread around and listen to the things that they do that don’t make any sense at all.  One would think that if nobody ever just stopped by your office to say a quick hello, or told you about a personal story every once in a while, you’d get the hint that you’re not one of the more liked people in the office, but apparently that doesn’t get absorbed by this one.

And I know about not being liked …. I’m the HR Manager in a call center for christ’s sake!  However, I make it a point to put myself on the same level as each and every employee here …. I listen to their problems, and come up with solutions!  I hear them when they talk about their family issues, and help them work through them so they can get through life AND a day at the office.

It’s funny how calm our office is today.  This person called in sick this morning and it’s interesting how the whole personality of the office has lifted and seems to be happier and more carefree than yesterday.

I love my job …. Especially on days like today when the extra stress that comes along with it calls in sick.
