Advice from a Blonde: Avoid Brown-Nosing

About two months ago, my boss resigned from the company to pursue another opportunity.  Well, on Monday, the new guy showed up.

It isn’t surprising that the people in the office that never work are the ones that are on top of everything this week and shoving their nose so far up the new boss’s butt that I am pretty sure they can no longer see daylight.  But it’s only a matter of time before the honeymoon period wears off and he sees them for who they are —- slackers who have nothing better to do than tattle on people who make a small mistake (when they don’t ever make mistakes because they are not technically responsible for doing anything — therefore, can always blame someone else for a mistake when it happens).

Brown-nosing is never a good idea.  You know why?  Because eventually the person you are sucking up to will see right through everything you have done, and you’ll look like the idiot!

I can’t wait for that day to come …. it’s going to be fabulous.

Advice from a Blonde: How NOT to Call in Sick

What ever happened to just calling in “sick” and not telling everyone and their brother your business?  Well, apparently just calling in sick doesn’t happen anymore.  Here is a synopsis of two messages I received today from employees who won’t be in today …..

——————————-

Hi, this is [name removed].  I won’t be in today because I am …. [cough cough] …. not feeling well.  I will be in  …… [cough cough …. hack …. spit out a loogie] …… later this week.

Completely disgusting!  Who hacks up a loogie and spits it out while leaving a voice mail??

——————————-

Hi, this is [name removed] and my manager is [name removed].  I just wanted to let you know that I would not be in today due to loose bowels and vomiting.

GROSS!  Ever heard of a thing called TMI?  If not, this is the definition!

Advice from a Blonde

Funny thing. One of my friends at work wants my advice on what to wear tonight for a hot date. Best bet: short skirt and low cut shirt! lol. I would not classify myself as fashionable, but I like to look cute regardless if I’m lying around the house or going out into public. Single worst thing a woman could do is let themselves go. This isn’t for a man this is for yourself. When you start letting go you forget who you are.

One of the main calls I get at work are folks looking for a job. I can not tell you how sad it makes me when I get calls that sound so desperate. On more than a couple of occasions I have heard someone say, “the economy is really bad and I need work.” This just makes me feel bad for you. Maybe job seekers should try a different method such as, “During this recession I have had time to refocus my goals and I think I will be a great asset to your company please contact me if you begin hiring. ” I try to relate my work to everyday issues. Women imparticular who let themselves go at home will show that in the workplace. So my advice…pay attention to the small details…it may help in more ways than one.
